My Pretty

I've been determined to learn how to hand quilt for some time. I started on this pretty in July. The quilt pattern I'm working on is called Easy Does It by Darlene Zimmerman. The fabrics were from an assorted bag of precut fabrics I found at my local fabric shop. I machine pieced the top and the underside is a basic white flannel.

I've been learning how to hand quilt on my own and really quite pleased with the simplicity of the task! I enjoy how easy it is to sit anywhere I like and with few supplies (needle, thread and quilting hoop) to be able to continue the process of completing another quilted creation! I love not having to be restricted to my sewing machine, limited to one room/space, and not having to rely on a power source is a double joy! The greatest challenge for me while quilting has been committing to the sewing machine to piece my projects. Once I drag my things out, then I get E&E on my side needing to inspect all the tools and pieces... just not a safe place to be for curious little fingers!

I can't wait for you to see the finished quilt! I will have an update soon as I have finished the quilt, just having to find time to post again!

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Love the colours and hope the hand quilting id going well for you. When I was teaching myself to hand quilt (and let's be honest, I'm still learning) I found Sarah Fielke's short YouTube really helpful. I think it's listed on her blog at The Last Piece

Hi Anna! Ah, yes I am very familiar with Sarah's tutorial. Her gentle instruction is very good and actually inspired me to jump in and start hand quilting! Thank you for your kind words and inspiration!
